About Joy D. Edwards

Hi, I’m Joy D. Edwards — founder of Sweet Surrender, cosmetic formulator, product development consultant, and self-care advocate based in Henderson, Nevada.
My work lives at the intersection of skincare, formulation, self-care, and intentional growth.
At the heart of everything I do is one mission:
Helping women and growing beauty and wellness brands create products and rituals that support healthy skin, intentional self-care, and meaningful growth.
Through Sweet Surrender, I help women care for dry, sensitive, and easily reactive skin through beautiful daily rituals rooted in comfort, softness, and restoration.
Through my work in formulation and product development, I also support growing beauty and wellness brands with the technical insight, product strategy, and formulation guidance needed to bring thoughtful product ideas to life.
While those may sound like different paths, they are deeply connected.
At their core, both are about transformation.
Helping people feel better.
Helping products perform better.
Helping meaningful ideas become reality.
Sweet Surrender began not as a business idea, but as a necessity.
After experiencing chemical burns from a perm, I found myself frustrated by products that promised repair while relying on many of the same types of ingredients that caused the damage in the first place.
Treating irritation with more irritation never made sense to me.
I knew there had to be a better way.
When I couldn’t find products that met my needs, I began researching oils, butters, herbs, and traditional soap-making methods. What started as curiosity quickly became education, experimentation, and eventually expertise.
I later enrolled in a cold process soap-making class in San Diego, and that moment changed everything.
What began as a personal search for healing became the foundation for something much larger.
Through years of study, testing, formulation, and refinement, I developed products designed to deliver more than surface-level results.
I became deeply passionate not only about ingredients, but about how products feel, perform, absorb, restore, and support the overall experience of care.
That philosophy became the foundation of Sweet Surrender.
Formulated in the dry desert climate of Southern Nevada, Sweet Surrender products are created with moisture retention, skin comfort, and sensory experience at the forefront — because in this environment, hydration isn’t optional.
Every formula is intentionally crafted to support both skin and spirit.
Because I believe products should do more than function well.
They should create meaningful experiences.
Over time, I realized my work was never only about skincare.
And it was never only about products.
It has always been about helping create transformation.
Sometimes that transformation looks like helping a woman rebuild her relationship with self-care.
Sometimes it looks like helping her feel comfortable and confident in her skin again.
And sometimes it looks like helping a growing founder turn a product idea into something real, thoughtful, and market-ready.
That is why my work continues to evolve.
Not away from the original mission—
but deeper into it.
Because self-care is about more than indulgence.
It is about intention.
It is about honoring your needs, protecting your peace, respecting your limits, and creating sustainable ways to care for yourself and the things you’re building.
Whether I’m formulating products, supporting founders, or helping women create healthier rituals, the mission remains the same:
Create products and experiences that help people feel better, live softer, and grow with intention.
Thank you for being here.
Whether you found me as a customer, fellow founder, wholesale partner, or simply someone navigating her own journey toward healing and growth, I’m glad our paths crossed.
Welcome.
— Joy
